120/240 V Split-Phase Design Basics
Match the inverter to the service architecture
A 120/240 V split-phase system uses two 120 V legs with 240 V measured between them. Confirm whether the project requires 120 V only or both 120 V and 240 V loads before selecting the model and distribution arrangement.
Balance 120 V loads between L1 and L2
List the loads on each leg and distribute them as evenly as practical. Check both total inverter power and the permitted per-leg loading for the final approved model.
Verify neutral, bonding and transfer arrangements
Neutral treatment, grounding, bonding and transfer equipment depend on the site architecture and applicable electrical requirements. These interfaces must be defined before procurement rather than decided during final wiring.
