Copper conductors, XLPE insulation and galvanized steel wire armor combine in a five-core cable for low-voltage AC distribution. A protective construction for projects where mechanical durability matters.

01 Cable Construction

Class 2 stranded and compacted copper.
XLPE insulation around each conductor.
Black PVC outer covering over the armored assembly.
Non-hygroscopic filler and non-woven binder tape organize the cores. A black PVC inner sheath separates the core assembly from the galvanized steel wire armor, with binder tape and a black PVC outer sheath completing the cable.
Why Cable Armor Matters
Galvanized steel wires form a mechanical protection layer around the insulated core assembly. The armor helps resist physical damage during handling and service.
Added Mechanical Protection
Armor provides reinforcement against impact and compression. The required protection still depends on the cable route and installation conditions.
Different Layers, Different Roles
XLPE provides electrical insulation, steel wire armor provides mechanical reinforcement, and the PVC sheath covers the assembly. Armor does not make a cable fire-resistant or waterproof.
Designed Into the Installation
Cable glands, armor bonding and handling requirements are part of the installation design. Pulling limits and bending requirements depend on the selected cable size.
