30-40 KW Compact DC Charging Station

30-40 KW Compact DC Charging Station

The 30-40 kW Compact DC Charging Station combines a 380 V three-phase AC input, 150-1000 V DC output, up to 95% system efficiency and a single 5 m charging cable in a wall- or pedestal-mounted enclosure. It is designed for sites that need faster charging than an AC wallbox without the footprint and grid demand of a high-power cabinet charger. The 30 kW model supplies up to 100 A DC; the 40 kW model supplies up to 130 A DC.

POWER ENVELOPE Rated power and maximum output current apply together. At lower battery voltage, current becomes the limiting factor: for example, at 150 V the theoretical current-limited output is about 15 kW for the 30 kW model and 19.5 kW for the 40 kW model. Actual output also depends on vehicle request, battery condition, temperature and charger control limits.

Charging Interface and Communication

The source documents reference IEC 62196, DIN 70121 and ISO 15118 but do not identify a specific connector configuration. The connector, inlet compatibility and communication stack must therefore be confirmed for each destination market and vehicle group.

  • IEC 61851-23 covers requirements for DC electric vehicle supply equipment.
  • IEC 62196-3 covers dimensional compatibility for standardized DC and combined AC/DC vehicle couplers; use the current applicable edition for the ordered interface.
  • DIN 70121 is associated with digital communication for DC charging in CCS implementations.
  • The ISO 15118 series addresses high-level communication between the EV communication controller and charging equipment, including identification and charge-control use cases.
  • A standards reference in a brochure does not prove that every optional function, certificate or vehicle interoperability case is included. Request the implementation statement and test evidence for the exact model.

Site Planning and Installation Guidance

  • Confirm three-phase 380 V supply capacity, prospective fault current, earthing arrangement and upstream distribution equipment.
  • Calculate input current using actual efficiency and power factor data from the approved datasheet; do not size the supply from output power alone.
  • Provide a dedicated isolator, overcurrent protection and surge-protection coordination according to the final electrical design and local rules.
  • Verify wall load capacity or pedestal foundation, service clearance, ventilation openings and cable-entry direction.
  • Maintain clear air inlets and outlets. Do not place the forced-air-cooled unit where dust, exhaust, leaves or recirculated hot air can obstruct cooling.
  • Plan the parking position so the 5 m cable reaches the vehicle without tension, sharp bends, trip hazards or vehicle traffic over the cable.
  • Confirm drainage and shelter needs. IP54 does not remove the need for correct mounting, sealed entries and suitable environmental assessment.
  • Check Ethernet route or 4G signal, SIM/APN requirements, backend endpoint and offline behavior before commissioning.
  • Commission insulation, earthing, emergency stop, connector locking, temperature sensing, network connection and real-vehicle charging.
  • Record serial number, firmware, protocol configuration, electrical test results and maintenance baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a compact DC charging station?

It is an integrated charger that converts AC supply power to controlled DC power for the vehicle battery. This series packages the power modules, control, display, communication and protection functions in a wall- or pedestal-mounted unit.

Can it be wall-mounted?

Yes. The series supports wallbox or pedestal installation. Verify wall structure, service clearances, airflow and cable routing.

Can it be installed outdoors?

The stated enclosure rating is IP54. Suitability still depends on mounting, sealed entries, temperature, dust, rainfall exposure, drainage, sunlight and local environmental requirements.

How fast will it charge an EV?

Charging time depends on usable battery energy, starting state of charge, battery temperature, charge curve and vehicle DC acceptance. Divide required energy by average delivered power for a preliminary estimate, not by the nameplate power alone.

Can the charger be controlled by a mobile app?

Yes, it an be controlled by a mobile app. Confirm the app, cloud region, language, user functions, data ownership and ongoing service terms.

Is the charger suitable for continuous commercial operation?

The series targets several commercial and fleet scenarios, but utilization, maintenance interval, spare-parts plan, warranty and tested duty cycle should be reviewed for the project.
