XLPE Insulated Copper Wire Screen Power Cable
product-1711-572

Screened copper cable for project-specific medium-voltage distribution is specially designed for power plants, substations and precision industrial equipment, scenarios requiring high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). XLPE insulation and a copper wire screen form the core of a layered electrical design, with PE or PVC outer sheath options to suit the specified construction.

Copper conductor

Stranded copper construction.

XLPE insulation

Insulation with semiconductive screens.

Copper wire screen

A dedicated metallic screening layer.

Inside the Screened Construction

Stranded copper, semiconductive screens and XLPE insulation form the electrical core. Copper wires and reverse-wound copper tape provide metallic screening beneath the outer sheath. Select the complete construction and sheath material for the installation.

What Does the Copper Wire Screen Do?-For scenarios requiring high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

Manage the electrical field

Semiconductive layers help control the electric field around the insulation. The metallic screen works with the cable system's earthing design.

Coordinate fault protection

Screen sizing and bonding must be coordinated with the project's earth-fault duty and protection settings.

Copper wire screening

Copper wires and reverse-wound copper tape form the metallic screen beneath the outer sheath.

For selection, provide the system voltage, fault requirements, route conditions and termination details.

Where Screened MV Cables Are Used

Substations & Distribution

Fixed connections between transformers, switchgear and distribution equipment.

Industrial Facilities

Medium-voltage feeders serving plant networks and process equipment.

Generation & Renewable Energy

Power collection and distribution connections within generation projects.

Route, voltage, mechanical protection and environmental requirements determine the suitable cable configuration. Duct, outdoor and buried installations each require a project-specific assessment.

Three Things to Know Before Selection

Insulation and sheath differ

XLPE insulates the conductor. The outer sheath protects the cable surface; its material does not replace the insulation system.

Screen size matters

Specify the copper screen cross-section alongside the conductor size. Screen selection follows the system earthing and fault-current requirements.

Match the accessories

Select joints and terminations for the cable voltage, insulation diameter and copper wire screen arrangement.

Specify the Cable Around the Project

Voltage & accessories

Match the rated voltage and insulation dimensions to the network, joints and terminations.

Sheath & environment

Specify the PE or PVC sheath against the actual route and environmental requirements.

Installation & delivery

Confirm bending limits, pulling conditions, drum lengths and screen bonding with the installation design.

Professional Cable Manufacturing

Coordinated production processes support consistent conductor formation, cable assembly and finishing.
